From Twitter 04-05-2011

@hrwildberlin I always seem to break things/find them broken. I think many people aren't bothered and/or don't really have a clue...
@little_jodieF1 how are their CS? I was pleasently surprised by BT. escaped without calling (twitter+forum). phew.
@skybluemandylou As is #f1 - so us gadget loving #f1 lovers really are rather scr****
RT @ChrisPepin: 87% of Android developers think fragmentation is a problem, survey finds | BGR http://bit.ly/hjTXMd
@aimee_maree you mean fukushima? Tho they have to make it safe(r) first... ?
Back to a normal working day today.. though the dogs could hve let me sleep peacefully for an extra 30 mins (until 0645 not 0615) ..
slightly annoyingly my vpn seems on a go slow today (internet speed is fine). Ok not hugely slow, but not full infinity speed!
Upgrading Rational Team Concert to v3 -- systems I use are being updated. Will be interesting to see new features :-)
yet again before I know it have been working >> hour at home. Deciding whether to go into office (no meetings face to face today).Um.
BTW when I said "my VPN is slow today" I meant it's only doing 8-10 Mbps instead of > 30 (internet speed). Funny how perceptions change...
@nuart11 amazon tells you what to buy .. @skybluemandylou
RT @nuart11: Facebook asks what I’m thinking. Twitter asks what I’m doing. Foursquare asks where I am. The internet has turned into a cr ...
Like it when an install ends up in a green tick rather than red cross :-)
So what most people call a "recycle bin" RTC v3 calls a "backup shed". Still nice to have!
Another security leak - this time "Hilton Honours" affected (via epsilon) - email addresses comprimised. Grrr. more spam then. #fail
@jtonline Go to moneysavingexpert.co.uk and follow their guides as your usage etc could differ lots from mine.
@jtonline I just switched to British Gas webonline 11 wierdly..
Just as well I'm working at home as I'm currently talking to myself -- well actually SHOUTING at the SCREEN and this SOFTWARE ;-)
this is winding me up now. Obviously a virtual monday
to (scream at) p2 or not to p2 that is the question ;-)
called into a 12:00 conf call early for once. Why or why. The music audio quality is positively *excrutiating*. very very poor
use of word "mometarily" always winds me up. For me it means "briefly, for a moment" not "in a moment" (american) ... comments
One good use of a kindle - oxford english dictionary included "in the box"
@Gaila88 having a frustrating day so little things exacerbate the situation ....
@_pocketdynamo welcome to my world ;-)
@Gaila88 this was on a conference call whilst waiting for speaker. In which case the system doesn't even know that speaker is joining "soon"
@Gaila88 anyway, it's just a useless placeholder. At least it's better than the truly abysmal disorted ear-breaking "music"
@Gaila88 we had the sun yesterday (day off), c. cloudy/fairly dull down south today. just as well as working
@hunni_h depends so much on location, but generally good/fast (not at my home tho). Borrow/get a PAYG sim just to test out. Will need
@hunni_h unlocked phone of course..
@parboo yes follower's using apostrophe's when they shouldn't clearly annoying
@saltyF1 shouldn't let the rain stop you. get the waterproofs on!
salmon/leftover/salad/fresh baked bread lunchtime :-)
@eric_andersen "&^£*&"^£*&
@jtonline I used to use the news & event rss feed -- though it appears broken...
@Lipstedo I had an interlink express regular deliv last year. Day before I think they said am/pm. during morning the sent a time +/- 1 hr
@Lipstedo which would solve your problem!
@RachEdwardsF1 @Tuesdaytweetup @paulbackhouse different day sounds good :-)
@Lipstedo then another co just told me out for delivery "route 96" - but no info on what that route was! Grr.
@Lipstedo Seems a shame that without changing anything, just using tech to share info customer sat could be loads higher..
@NeilBaileyF1 nothing you can fix yourself?
So portsmouth uni charging £8500 http://bbc.in/g6JIML - to slide under radar? So much for average £7500...
@OzoneVibe clearly 1st class only - there isnt another seat in front allowing a gap for legs of no more than 5 cm
@cdpjenkins in what way? try the beta? It fixes scrolling issue. My issue is colours. #chromedeck
fantastic - an application has an errorlog with no timestamps. Sigh.
@aimee_maree I'll raise you. month.
warning. crap day threshold hit at 80 pc. criticality could follow ...
@NeilBaileyF1 do you have antivirus sw installed & up to date?
Seems so very wrong now... -> RT @Gargarin: @emilybell ice cream van outside our school use to sell a "fag & a match" for 20p
moving on to plan B. given up trying, retrying, fixing. It's time to do major uninstall/clean/reinstall of a full stack. Grr #timewasting
there goes a wasted day :-(
frankly it's unacceptable for an uninstall to take this long. And I thought only a broken day...
Have *gigabytes* of sw to re-install (~8). Copying vers of CD is slower than BT Infinity. may as well do online install...!
@jon_read Doesn't sound good. problems happen, it's how they (and escalations) handled that counts. Hope they start listening @TalkTalkTips
@cdpjenkins err how about google "chromedeck beta" ;-) #chromedeck #beta -- see http://bit.ly/ghMQu1
trying to copy files off a CD in windows. Annoying. faffs around for so long calculating etc before starting copy. using robocopy instead...
@jacksri Ah nice - I've seen it before but forgotten about it. Thanks
Annoyingly the install CD's contain 1000;s (10,000s) of small files. so inefficient for install & copy. this will take so long ....
@jon_read Presumably that's one reason there's an escalation route through ceo office - to get depts talking & oil wheels .. @TalkTalkTips
why do some conf call providers list multiple uk nos like london/birmingham/leeds etc. Why? free/toll sure, but it's irrelevant these days?
our pup is quite funny - he definately chews a piece of apple 10x more than a piece of meat!
Surprised there's no RSS feed of #BCS local branch news ? http://www.bcs.org/category/12189
looks some some BBC content really will be broadcast in 1080p on Freeview HD http://bbc.in/e9T2C7 but think @skyHD is only 1080i ?

An interesting Microsoft blog post about looking at the power consumption of the browser http://bit.ly/hGb501
@f1lover75 My favourite is absolutely chrome too, FF4 isn't bad -- actually IE9 looks half decent too, just not for me
@cragnet Ah - mine's warm to the touch but nowhere near hot. perhaps I'm lucky. It's on a windowsill by itself. Could be warmer in summer
@cragnet glad back up and running -- guess would be good to have HH fixed but if you don'y use it..
@cdpjenkins didn't mean to be mean... just bust this pm but wanted to be helpful ;-)
@anotherproblem sorry didn't quite understand that tweet....
@cdpjenkins still using linux on laptop? I did for a few years but kept hitting issues so in the end had to call it a day to get work done..
@xplane0202cell broadcast - used to display location/weather many years ago on some nets http://www.telecomabc.com/c/cb.html
@jacksri power management, video drivers for me -- and also required application software
@saltyF1 should be a good one especially with potential changeable conditions (as long as not a washout)
@xplane0202 but will it be fixed. somewhat sceptical they've done a reflash and not tested, but we'll see
@F1Ellen An f1 car? (err probably not)
@f1lover75 and WIndows 7
looked out of window - wierd, looked like full moon, then realised council have replaced the streetlights (bulbs)- low energy moonlight! #fb
@anotherproblem quite possible if you are on virgin 50 or fttc and it's 802.11g or below. cable best for fast/reliable conn
@david_hay sounds like you'd been sampling the brandys if you saw two london eyes ;-)
@kkir @Kkirgirl protected twitter account? any particular reason?
@Kkirgirl l I did try going protected whilst on holiday (partly to reduce spam) - tho I work mostly on twitter=open, fb -> @kkir
@Kkirgirl <-more restricted (tho plenty of tweeps from here on there - those I have dialogue with), but more controlled. @kkir
@kkir fair enough, was just intrigued that's all.
@EmmaGx nice spot. perhaps a detail they glossed over....

@DaveMyers1 @Soggous No - don't pay! If out of warranty you'll be out of contract before. Just ask to cancel. they'll xfer you, when ->
@DaveMyers1 @Soggous asked why say "box is broken, may as well". they will offer to repair for free. Always case for me. (only needed ->
@DaveMyers1 @Soggous <- twice ! Common technique. Monthly subs are worth the £££ to them. they don't want to loose that on a repair..
FAA safety statement on boing 737s after incident last week -> http://scr.bi/g4gveI (via @avtips)
@eric_andersen am quite surprised it's that high. Wonder if US/Europe differs. Many I know I think would prefer SMS short code.
@DaveMyers1 @Soggous few tips for crashes -- you could try full reset (looses ALL programs), a planner rebuild, or a sw update (both keep)
@etherealtype maybe your neck is getting into practice for upcoming activities...
@DaveMyers1 @Soggous ah yes - combined with the smoke out the back & it's transition into a hotplate...!

Watching this week's #theevent
great. Left computer running stack install for ~6 hours - was close to complete then system hit a bug check.. AAARRRGGGGHHHH
@OzoneVibe Ate there a few months ago, really enjoyed it, though hitlist for me next is
@OzoneVibe 1. Kali Mirchi 2. Mango 3. La Baronia
@etherealtype Does this mexican look more "authentic"? http://bit.ly/fhvAgX (seems to be top rated mexican in southampton)
