From Twitter 12-23-2010

@ananyah yep same here, though was somewhat occasional until 2008 think around feb/mar #f1 kicked off in a frenzy on twitter
@MiaF1Design ok so you're making all us brits feel like wooses. esp down south. must be at least down to 0 right now ;-)
@ThreeUK Honestly I really wish I could but lack of coverage in two key areas (for a long time, reported, no plans) mean no option for now
@VodafoneUK Thanks, you have another reply with another suggestion/request.
@ThreeUK As Mariah Carey would say "All I want for Christmas is You" (or at least a some 3 masts, or one that goes to 11 ;-)
@ThreeUK I hope so. Still have an old (or 2?) 3togo plans active & 2 kids on 3 so can monitor the situation easy enough..
Dilemma. Gym then town or town then gym... probably the former I think
Just as I have a day off there's some work things niggling I wish I'd completed, but they'll have to wait :-(
@Dr_Black Nice bit of thinking though not a runner (and need more ex.) , and also have to get stuff to carry. Also gym x-trainer / treadmill
@Dr_Black perfect for watching podcasts!
@Dr_Black Most ice has melted here except on the footpaths. Lost track of how many times nearly slipped yesterday when walking the dogs..
@vixisabel with family/friends? We always keep ours fairly simple & predictable though #leavingitabitlate
@G4Shallow I think this is common to all co's. I'm currently having grief with @VodafoneUK about a non tracking purchase for a
@G4Shallow £100 cashback (40% off). Now I may need to cancel & loose number because neither V or CB (quidco) can help w/in cancel period
@G4Shallow I'm probably (hoping?) to get to a half way comprimise to save the hassle, but been burnt here. IMO the c/b tech is flawed
@MichaelxHell :-) Have to say am happy to say my Gaggia has no electronics at all. switches, solenoids, pump, heater http://flic.kr/p/7NiWkB
@G4Shallow I did get a failed three one, but I think it was when I ordered a £10 sim and cb was listed as £12, so wasn't surprised rejected
@G4Shallow but it's this whole lack of clarity over eligibility & no confirmation during order process that is scary/frustrating - the
@G4Shallow co's like Vodafone, Three etc etc are collectively to blame as well. I know simple answer is of course not to use/expect
@G4Shallow which maks the smaller amounts just a "bonus" -- the problem is more the bigger amounts where the cost equation changes so much
@MichaelxHell not even any espresso based drinks (americano etc). I'm a serious fan & it's one of the most critical "gadgets" in the house!
hearing that town is ridiculously busy. Only need a little ad-hoc wander, mostly sorted. Think exercise/relax first & go later...
RT @conradoldcorn: RT @BBCBusiness: How Russian airports stay open in winter http://bbc.in/fVZs46
@MichaelxHell well if you could "flash" an espresso machine to become a wine or whisky maker then perhaps that would be of interest ;-)
@jadejavu looking good, hopefully power/calls/gps/camera will be working b4 too long, then very potent
@jadejavu I still really like maemo as an OS though. Main issue is lack of commercial sw. (some ie angry birds, sygic etc, but ltd)
@jadejavu and still no perfect twitter app (tweetdeck,gravity). What do you use? #twimgo current favourite though no notifications
Nice. Just got a christmas £15 from qriocity (on demand service on bravia internet tv) - an extra movie or two for xmas :-)
whatever we do - heavy or light streaming (not excessive) we end up heading approx 160Gb/month. still considering BT's 300Gb infinity pkg
Still procrastinating about whether to go with BT Infinity (now,18m, 300Gb,£25) or wait for sky/be (?,?,?,?)
@ApprenticeLaura There's been messages going around about police that I'm 99% sure are fakes. THOUGH I do agree with sentiment #snow
@ApprenticeLaura as it can fly off and surprise vehicles behind and more worringly for me implies a lack of care/skill in bad weather #snow
@ApprenticeLaura Just found this -- http://bit.ly/dOLKbL #snow
@evoGage yes it does, remember though that with a 30-40 Mbps connection could eat limit in a day. Also likely use more wish it was 12m cont
@ApprenticeLaura Also anything that could be regarded as without care/attention / dangerous is illegal... #snow
@nikhilpai @nkumar_ @m_krishna @adityasinghvi Spot on - as a N900 owner that remains the single biggest hole. #twimgo closest.
@Sk4zZi0uS apparently good (could be as NDS is local? !) . We have lots of LLU choice. I'm with O2 LLU. Excellent too, but 4 Mbps/4.7km
@evoGage Yeah, talktalk are in feb, but really should avoid -- too many bad stories I read. BT look more Ok, but Be would be idea. When tho?
@evoGage I've not heard anything since their MD blogged back in July, twice. Then silence. That article hinted at a BTw service with limits
@evoGage maybe the delay is to get llu (well VULA/GEA) sorted as talktalk have managed it. I should really wait. Surely can't be > 3 months?
@bebroadband Any chance of any blog updates on fibre - not heard anything since MD's posts in July :-(
@evoGage sky another contender, though nothing from them in 2010.
@Sk4zZi0uS For me 4.5/1 -> 31/8 approx (max, BT "fault" threshold is 12/x, should be 15/x +). No VM here
Realising another task for today - really should give "Dance Central" with kinect a go - before we have any visitors :-)
@Sk4zZi0uS With fibre to the cab the connection between home-exchange is via *BT Openreach* which is nearly uncontended & fixed cost to ISP
@Sk4zZi0uS From exchange can go to any provider. Big one is "BT wholesale" (the big BT network), which "BT retail" sell Infinity on
@Sk4zZi0uS But an ISP can connect to openreach it at exchange via (I think) GBe and then go over own backhaul (ie talktalk,sky,telefonica)
@Sk4zZi0uS BT appear to enforce FUP very strongly. It's not officially documented in FUP, but they do share details on forum/twitter
@Sk4zZi0uS I'm using streaming TV more and more, But BT is clearly best package on table for high use for now.
@_MissAnnie_ sounds like my parents also used to be #TwitPict
@davidchow doesn't sound too bad, I'm hoping to try Vodafone's £2/day £10/month limited package on next europe visit. Better than 0 data.
@evoGage Like idea of sky too to get sky player & anytime+ but it could be early 2011, or late 2011 or later.. who knows (and can say!)
@nkumar_ I have full openJDK on mine and run some "desktop" apps (for work purposes). Maps is a #nokia #fail on #n900 IMO
@nkumar_ mappero isn't bad, there's others too, and can consider sygic (not free) for car navigation #n900
@nkumar_ never tried, was using openjdk to run a desktop app on a pocketable device (Ui worked but barely usable, but server worked)
@G4Shallow it's certainly got me feeling stressed
@G4Shallow not so much the cost - it isn't as if it will bankrupt me (already happened! ?) it's more the plan having failed
@davidchow will post am sure. Not till feb. better than nothing. should be enough for fb/twitter, need to take care to avoid sw updates
tescos surprisingly not overly busy.had to pick up a tecos finest xmas pudding after having at a friends.
@Sk4zZi0uS yes it is. never gone above 200 afaik but streaming is increasing after new hd tv kit so i predict it will increase
@Sk4zZi0uS also speed will enable concurrent streams (4 ppl) . without internal controls teenage kids/friends could eat quota in no time
@vixisabel shopping or relative. about to tackle former....
@rachelclarke grr a real peeve of mine. got stung with music vids last week just cos i browsed from tv not pc
yay no traffic queues into #southampton. no parking problem. looking good!
cold tho...here
town so far is rather quiet
still shopping eek. stuck on one last present for my dad. foodie. going to have to be the jams again..
@racheeroo01 southampton got a lot busier late afternoon. still here...
did get to try the german spicy sausage with 'curry' sauce earlier at german market having been inspired by #apprentice wk.2? not spicy enuf
@racheeroo01 indeed. and aching. finally last pres done. like me
@etherealtype honestly it wasnt that great. more like ketchup with a bit of spice. my chilli stds are far far higher. still tried it now
@etherealtype all the local cider looked tempting but managed to stay away!
@DougieLawson now that is serious. does walking around town shopping count?
@etherealtype it was bottled to bring home. must get some more stuff from http://www.mrpickles.co.uk/ naga is nice.
@etherealtype surprised no sushi there. i would guess plenty of fish. too traditional?
phew. home and worn out..
Best decide what to do about my @vodafoneuk contract now that I have some though not all info/clarity on what can/cant be done
noticed my skype plugin is causing crashes on both chrome and IE... leaving disabled. anyone else?
@nathanchantrell actually I've been having issues with those plugins on win 7 x64 for a while (since before) just mentioned it!
Quick try of #chromedeck now that notifications working, but I can't deal with the constantly scrolling timeline. Back to air version
still not tried dance central... prob not a good idea after dinner which I'm only just having now...
@honeybee85 Hey I'll have you now I finished my shopping today. And it's christmas eve *eve* (is that your excuse for another prezie today?)
wondering how much longer I can put off any wrapping (actually most prezzies pre-wrapperd:-) )
@EmmaGx cool - nice to get complemented ! #chuffed
@honeybee85 certainly when I got to town today it was definately more male dominated than usual, but far! quieter than expected though :-)
@amandagolding rinse, repeat :-)
@LauraLeslie23 they're still v. strong, interested to see how the new on-demand services (youview, btvision,talktalk) impact them
kid taxi service. last thing for today then finally get to sit down and finally have a beer/ watch tv/film
m.check.in is broken? seems to be defaulting to a brite kite site (owner). maybe time to give up. any other multi checkin web apps?
@LauraLeslie23 they are still a massive force. would like to see more content avail through multiple platforms.
@LauraLeslie23 having ondemand direct on main tv with fast broadband is massive
finally sitting down.
