Sony bluray hooked up. The bravia internet video is a lot better than the samsung tv. In particular iplayer quick to get to offset
Miracously the samsung/sony seem to interoperate great with hdmi-cec. Power on/off/menus etc. Sony av synv works for lipsync on dvd
Like the podcast app. Even favs like geekbeat play nicely

It turns out dts 5.1 works fine bluray->sc5 amp as does dd, but not on one disc marked "dts 96/24" (queen). Is that rate typical

A quick google search suggests dts 96/24 is fairly rare. Even more so without an accompanying dd track. It would be the 1 picked off shelf!

So looks like I'm going to have to either (at a min) a) Get a cheap bluray even for DVDs or b) for out £££ for a proper surround amp
Samsung [integrated ctrl] 5300 or 5500 (what's diff?) could be a cheap bluray - or Sony BDS370 [to get bravia service as well as samsung]

Any comments on sony STRDA2400 7.1 amp ? Good for managing delay for lcd/sky/blueray?

Can current samsung BluRay players have ability to add a timed delay (like skyhd) to lipsync A/V, and/or can do this auto with samsung tv?
I remain amazed that there are lipsync issues with lcd tvs/dvd/bluray. Never thought about it (oops). Wondering if any fix except amp

@sxa555 one example - DVD in via scart. Audio direct from DVD. Also sky using optical 5.1 to amp. (looping via TV works but is only 2.1)
@sxa555 TV only negotiates 2.1 -- this seems to be a problem across the industry
@sxa555 Of course plasma has much less processing delay. LCDs have more. More processing - adds even more. Can disable but...

woohay. lcd TV now wall mounted. Ok so instead of 4 fairly standard-large screws I used 9 big buggers & 4 extra humungous ones - into brick
think the wall bracket could hold 10x required weight at least, though it will fail before fixings (I hope)
still managed to cleanup, enjoy roast dinner and watch xfactor. Still had the "doesn't look so large now" comment (46).

The integrated iplayer on new Samsung hdtv is very nice - even at SD (#f1 fp1 isn't in HD) it's very watchable.
Not sure how much HD I'll watch. Felt very frustrated and stressed after a call with @slyhd today after a pressured call yesterday
One thing I would say about new hdtv (which I knew beforehand) - the sound is pretty poor compared to old large crt. Have audio system tho

@jacksri One thing I only realised in last week was that on virtually *all* tvs the SPDIF doesnt pass-through 5.1 from inbound DVI (ie blu)
@jacksri outputs 5.1 from internal tuner/content only, and pass-through is 2 channel. So audio needs switching via amp, but then hit the
@jacksri processing delay issue, which needs compensation in amp or source system (and switching, but I only have one optical in ...)
